That entirely depends on how much hot glue you put on there.

If your lucky, you might be able to just pry off the hot glue... unless its wrapped 'around' something.. then you're in trouble.

I've wrecked a few switches like this, but they have those stupid prongs. You should be fine if you are doing it the way I think you are.

hopefully i'm lucky... it's just the hot glue on top of the wires. i just wasn't wanting to pry it all up... but if that's what it takes, then that will be fine.

i need to get a new soldering tip before i attempt anymore soldering... i don't think it's good when the tip is no longer a tip...

hopefully i'm lucky... it's just the hot glue on top of the wires. i just wasn't wanting to pry it all up... but if that's what it takes, then that will be fine.

Oh its probaby better than mine, my dad was stupid and plugged in my soldering iron and thought it was the printer.. ...It burnt through the plastic and I can't get it off the tip!

woo hoo! controls (minus l and r) are hooked up. *whew* just had to rip out what i had done before and do it again. this time, none of those connections are coming loose!

it's a slow process, but it's coming along.

things left to do (done/not done):

hook up player 2 port & a/v out
relocate snes cart slot
reinforce snes cart slot
relocate 8-bit/16-bit power switch
hook up controller
finish painting
shave out good portion of inside plastic from back half of case
rewire one thing on leds so it doesn't drain batteries when not in use
testing
a few other odds and ends

Sweetness! It's really coming along! You'll be playing it in no time!

You did an excellent job of putting the screen frame in. I can't even tell from the front that it's a separate piece!

All right! Looks like you're to the fun part now! I always enjoy wiring more than case making, which is rewarding but it doesn't light up with bells and whistles when you are done like a successful electronics mod does.

thanks! that's one reason why the case has taken me so long... i wanted everything to be seamless!

ugh. i do not consider this to be the fun part... i like case making much more. maybe that's because i'm more confident in that area. but, this project is a great learning experience for me! that means future projects will be much easier!

My advice would be to make sure the wire knows who is boss. Sounds stupid, but seriously, most wiring fear comes from thinking its harder than it is.

I'd say yell at it. But people may think you've gone mad.

Hah! I do the same thing. Of course, it helps when the only living creatures around you are pets. I'm discovering that as long as you don't add power until you're SURE it's all connected properly (via multimeter), you can get away with doing almost anything.

oh, trust me. i yell.

well, maybe not yell, but i definitely mumble loudly a lot.

i'm not worried about the connections themselves. it just seems to take so stinking long. and i just get frustrated with my soldering iron. and the wires. and the solder. and... everything!

Melt the solder right on a crap tip and let it drip all over a piece of scrap plastic or metal. Like Jackson Pollack in a hardware store. lol
