Headphones

Post by 'kay » Fri Feb 22, 2008 10:18 pm

I was following one of the wiring diagrams (I don't know whose) in the N64 portable info thread but then, after soldering together the headphone cables on the PSone screen (and getting a bit more confident about this whole thing), I decided I actually wanted a headphone socket.

Getting sound to a headphone port seems pretty simple... but I want the speakers to turn off when headphones are plugged in... so I came up with this:

This would work, right? I'm hoping to do it this way since I cut the headphone wires pretty small, and the screens all ready mounted... so this way would be far easier for me.

you can get sockets with built in switches, then use the switch to disconnect the speakers

Well it's just I have a bunch of spare headphone sockets lying about.
I'd rather not buy a new one when I could just use the ones I already have.
Thanks anyway.

Just remove the solder that you put on the headphone contacts and you should be able to solder the headphone jack to that.

Good, I was going to link 'kay to Life of Brian's thread; I don't need to now!

I searched through the forums but didn't find anything  Thanks though! I'm sure it'll be of great help.
