Nintendo GameCube Dev Unit at Goodwill?!? *56k and stretch*

Hey, I have a hell of a story. This is incredible, as Im jumping for joy.

Okay here goes.

I was walking around town today, and decided to go to Salvation Army, and another used items store to see if they had anything useful for electronics. I got a "ThrustMaster Topgun Joystick" from Salvation Army, but it did NOT quench my thirst for electronical findings. So I got my mom to drive me up to Goodwill and Value Village. Value Village had a snes for $20, but it was all yellow and gross. So I went to Goodwill, my last hope.

I walked into the back of Goodwill (where all the weird electronics are). And before my eyes, I seen something that was pretty amazing to find in a Goodwill store. A black gamecube.

Upon looking at it, and checking it out (too see if it was tampered with and such). I noticed something different.

On the Gamecube, there was 2 peices of paper taped onto the bottom.
The peices both said, "N-DEV" in pretty neat writing. (Possibly a Nintendo employee's writing. I'm guessing it was to lable the machine.)

(Where the barcode is SUPPOSED to be it says: N-DEV, and under it says "N-DEV 7[]191". Please note that the "[]" represents a black square. So really the numbers are like: 7"BlackSquare"191)

Upon secretly exploding inside from excitment, I walked up to the cashier and grinned. The quiet old lady said, "$10.00 please." So I gave me the $10, and went to walk out and then someone said something. I turned and they handed me cables. Just a regular RCA and powercords for the gamecube. (No Controller. But I have 3 at home). I said Thanks and left.

Upon my surprise, the gamecube came with a disc inside that said "Driver" on it. I'm not to sure what it is, as it wont boot in a PC or in GC. Regular games wont play on the GC either.

Also, you know how gamecubes have that plastic part on the back thats ment as a handle to carry the system? Well this one doesnt have one.

Anyone, know what this is? Google has no awnsers. :S
I think it may be a Developer kit of somekind. I dont really want to ask Nintendo.

Its a broken junk Gamecube with the handle knocked off...

I'm working on pictures man. They will probably come tomorrow. My cams charging. Also, the handles not broke off. As theres no parts of peices left there. Like.... It looks like when the gamecube was made, the handle was NOT made with it. Like.. argh how can I explain?

The handle was definatly not broke off, as the part where its supposed to be is so smooth. If someone broke it off, it would be jagged and theyre would be broken parts. Theres none of that.

So yea, it looks like the handle wasnt made with this version?

Yeah I'm pretty sure this is a Gamecube Dev Kit.

What you have is a junk Gamecube with the handle knocked off.

Well, I know theres the SN-TDEV kit made by one company, but its a brown gamecube. Maybe its one of those SN-TDEV's in a black case?

That would explain what the "driver" disk is for as that website says the gamecube TDEV came with a program on a disk, and maybe the person wrote the wrong name down on the bottom?

TDEV console and controller
Host and target software (CD-ROM and Mini Optical Disc)
USB2 adapter and cable (custom)
USB2 PCI card
System requirements

Windows NT4 SP6, Windows 2000 or Windows XP
Nintendo GameCube Software Development Kit (SDK)

Well, If the "Driver" mini disc that was in the Gamecube is the "Mini Optical Disc" then I have the SN-TDEV.

That does make sence. A driver is like a program, and its a mini disc and it was in the GC.

Hmm.

Also, theres no "ATI" sticker at the front of the DEV GC, that I have.

And, I have seen one of those pinks ones at a flee market before.... Hmm..

When you have pics ready I can show them to some people I know and they should be able to identify it easily. Most likely an NR-Reader but it'd be good to be sure.

Awsome. There is a secret about this, and I might as well tell you guys now.

This is gonna raise some hell.

Theres a "USB" port on the back of the console.

I dont know why this thing doesnt work. *sigh*.

I should crack it open, and see if anythings been tampered with or disconnected.

(God, I wanna know what the USB is for.)

I think it maybe the SN-TDEV, but in a different color or something... :S

Okay. This is gonna look tackey.

I had to pull the USB slot out of the gamesystem. As it "fell" in when I tried to put something in it. Sounds like it was glued there or it was used many times. :S

Upon pulling it out, I broke it. Not to worry though, I soldered the wires from the OLD usb (The one that broke off and made me sad), to a new usb Female. (Which I found in my room.)

Problem is, Its now easier to stick a USB cord into the USB plugin on the gamecube BUT, the plugin on the gamecube itself sticks out. So I have to be careful.

This is starting to sound like a SN-TDEV Gamecube with a USB (Used for USB2EXI connection) connection capable of speeds of a whole 3MB/s and 48MB of RAM. They aren't that expensive about $20-30 more than a normal GC but still what an awsome find.
