Wiip completed with pics!!

Post by spinout » Mon Jul 09, 2007 7:57 pm

After putting this project aside for a few months I decided to finish it. I may make it better/completely re do it, but if I do it will be in a while.
Features:
*7.5mah Pb acid battery (aka lead acid  ) for about 2hrs play time.
*5 inch psone screen w/ a plug to connect multiple sources
*does not break Wii waranty (but I opened my Wii up to install a
modchip and jump a fuse)
*screen is attached with velcro so I can remove it
unfortunately "built in sensor bar" is not in the above features because the leds on the right failed.

Now for pictures:

See the thing is i never really saw the point of having a Wii Portable. Just because you need a fairly big screen in the first place the enjoy the Wii at all. But i guess for playing Gamecube games on the Wii Portable, and games that do not incorporate the motion sensing ability and all its nice to have. Now I'm going to stop rambling and say nice portable man. :)

Very nice job! The case job really matches the Wii itself - pretty damn smooth.

I wouldn't call it a joke, but more of an oddly placed complement...

What?

A Wiip?

HOLY CRAP!

nice--I have to wait to get home before I can see the pics. You're pretty close to it now, but I think you should definitely refer to it as a 'piiwii' or perhaps just 'pwii' instead.

Nice, but I've always thought that although its possible to make a Wii portable, its not possible to make it handheld. Its really like PSone to a PS Portable. One is handheld one is not.

sweet case for the psone screen 8)
but if you have a battery like that you might as well just have a power adapter so you can play Wii any where in the house wihtout a tv!
or buy some li-poly batteries

Thanks for the comments. Ya, it isn't all that portable but it still is fun. I would of used a li-ion/poly battery but i already had this one so i figured why not since it couldn't be handheld. Someday I hope to make a handheld version that weighs next to nothing and uses a touch screen as a sensor bar but I see no simple way of doing that, so I will probably make a headband with the pointer built in. But I need to finish my GC micro(see my sig) and n64 portable (again, see my sig).
