Eh... i'm not really a nerd, I just have an avid intrest in pcs, but a lot of people do anyway and video games and that, I might have tendencies, but I don't have the characteristics, and most of my conversations don't end up talking about how many cpu's we've overclocked
I'm just intrested in computers and video games more than other things really.

The word 'Nerd' is just used to bag people out.
I am not as you say a nerd, nor many of the people on this site. This was a bad topic to start off on these forums. Other than at home, I don't ever discuss computers at all, well not much. The only 'nerd' on these forums is Ben, but you try to tell him that, I never said that.
So no. None of us are nerds.

Same... I'm often asked to dumb down what I'm talking about to make it clearer for others to understand, and I get anal about people using the wrong term for computers. Example being someone saying they need to change the CMOS settings and actually talking about going into "msconfig" and changing the boot options.teraflop122 wrote:Labelling yourself in such a manner can be unhealthy.
I'm a computer enthusiast. I also enjoy electronics. Some people have trouble understanding what I talk about. I have had Car enthusiast friends who easily talk above my head about cars and engines.

I am a geek.
Hah, this is a real transcript from that REAL-WORLD PLACE that everyone talks about:
Idiot: HEY BIBIN I GOT A NEW COMPUTER!!!!!!1
Bibin: Oh, ok, what system do you use?
Idiot: IS DELL
Bibin: ...system. The operating system?
Idiot: WELL IT HAVE LITTLE COLORY FLAG AND IT SAYS WINDOWS XP BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT I HAVE IT'S MAC RIGHT OR LINUX, SPELLED LIKE (yeah, he actually tried to spell it for me) LINNIX?
Bibin: I have to hurt you now.

I know a lot of people who think they are really smart when it comes to computers, but they don't know crap. They tried to explain to me why my mp3 player wouldn't work on my computer because it was a dell :wtf. I tried to explain to someone what a gigabyte was and their brain crapped out and they called me a rocket scientist. These people didn't even know there was other operating systems outside of windows. I wish there was at least ONE person who knew something about electronics besides me around where I live.
Meh, I don't post much.
what is a nerd anyway?
someone who is passionante about something?
someone who shows interest in somehting ot the point that they lose themselves in it?
someone who is smart?
if that is the case where do I sign up for nerds of America?
