Casio EV-680 led mod

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Casio EV-680 led mod

Post by goodie »

I have the Casio EV-680 Tv, and am going to do the led mod on it. I looked at the pageon Ben's old site on how to do it. But I am having trouble locating the inverter on my Tv. Can anyone help me out?

look for a "caution high voltage" label or something. Also, it's probably in a shielded box or something

Yeah, I see a Caution: High Voltage thing on the top board. And there is a metal box there as well. So when I open the box, will I be able to just pull the inverter out? Or is it soldered in or something? I wonder if its safe to solder in a high voltage area. :?:

Hmm.. Not sure how much you can do. Looks like its intergrated right into the board... Also cutting the inverter is only to save space, once you remove the bulb it stops sucking power.

I don't have a hot glue gun. Is there an alternative to using hot glue?

I just finished the led mod, but the picture seems rather dark. Anyone know what could be wrong?

Are you sure you didnt put resistor with the wrong value in?

I'm using 2 LEDs. I used 2 10ohm resistors. Also, I don't know if it would make a difference, but I am using Ni-MH's, so the voltage is 4.8 instead of the normal 6 volts. But it was plenty bright with the original bulb, so I don't think it's the batteries.
