How many SNES mobo revisions are there?
So far from what I can tell there are 3 different mobo revisions for the NTSC original snes, does anyone know if there are any more?
I believe you are right, because I remember reading modding site that said there were only three types of sound chip revisions.
There was the first(1991), with the extra sound 'card', then it was replaced by two SMT chips(1992), then there was the rarer 3rd revision(I dont know the date) that had only one chip for all the sound capabilities.
I'll check and make sure.

If all else fails, take it apart!
Here's the website-- scroll down just a bit and read under 'Determining your APU type'.

Although it is talking about the SNES's APU, he tells how you tell what revision you have. There are aparrently only three revisions.
Hope this helps.

The revisions are not external case revisions they are mother board revisions and you can only tell the difference by opening the unit and examining the board.MM007 wrote:I've only seen the one as well, but we are country bumpkins here, and the technological revolution didn't really reach us until the late 1990s.
