Xbox laptop in the making.....
Moderator:Moderators
Well I started on this project last year and been working on it whenever I get the chance. Im also finishing up portables for other people, so time hasn't been on my side. As a lot of you know I already built a xbox portable last year and after seeing Bens xbox360 ,I said "why not make a xbox laptop".
This is what it will have in it:
: 60 gig laptop hard drive
: 15" lcd screen
: 2 built in wireless controllers
: Built in keyboard ( and can hook up a mouse to game with)
: built in smartjoy frag (for keyboard and mouse)
: VGA, S-video, composite, headphone
: And will run off AC and Rechargeable batteries ( so you can it
anywhere)
So here are a couple of pictures of it being built ( what I have done sofar)
1. The keyboard, speaker grills, and vent grills.

4. Wireless controller boards wired to the relays.

Woo... That is very smooth lookin'. Love the keyboard/mouse addition. It has a real USE, lol. I never got why ben added a keyboard onto his 360 lappie. Especially with tact switches, those would have to be terrible to type with.
Good to know it's going to be battery powered. This would be so awesome to have if you are a Halo fan. I know me and my friends would love to have this so we could go to the park and frag each other. We've actually taken a TV and Xbox outside with an extension cord, simply because with all the grass and trees and wind around, it makes blood gulch seem more "real".

As always thanks for you comments . Looks like the #1 question is whats the relays for? Ok the xbox has 4 controller ports and I want to add a keyboard and 2 wireless controllers. The problem with that is I cant run them all at the same time. So what the relays do is that if I were to turn on the wireless controller, it would turn off the #1 controller port. That way only one would work and they would not conflict. Thats the same for the keyboard. Also the relays are not that big 3/8" x 1/2" x 1/2", they just look bigger in the picture.
The case is not CNC or vacuum formed, I made it by cutting each part out by hand ( dremel). I also used a smartjoy frag for the keyboard and mouse. What I ment by built in controllers is that the wireless recevers are built in.
I'll post more pictures as I take them....
Thanks
