Music!

Um, BESIDES rock, rap, country, pop, videogame, and any other non-"classical" music   ....

Anyway, this is a thread for those who like "classical" music...if you do, hopefully you'll know why I put classical in quotes ;). Anyway, please discuss some of your favorite composers/pieces here :D.

I myself enjoy pretty much any style of music, Baroque to Contemporary, but I tend to listen to more Romantic and early 20th century stuff. Favorites include (but are certainly not limited to) Bach, Haydn, Mozart, , Chopin, Beethoven, Verdi, Donizetti, Rosinni, Puccini (yes, I like opera ;)), Shostakovich, Stravinsky, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff (and Russians!), Schoenberg, Poulenc, Prokofiev, Debussy.....the list actually goes on and on for quite a while. Right now I'm listening to a CD with various works of Francis Poulenc....I LOVE his style! Listening to various wind/piano pieces now...

Anyway, please fellow music lvers, show us your lve!...of course, with this being a hacking forum, with mainly teenagers visiting, there probably won't be many, but I thought I might as well try ...

I'd like to recommend Tristan Perich who is a contemporary artist who's doing music with "classical" instruments like violin and piano. (Downloads available on his page. Not all the links work though) I'm not sure how to classify the music, but my best shot is expressionism.
On top of that he seems to be a pretty skilled hacker as well.[/url]

Yes, there are still many "classical" composers today (myself being one of them, actually ;)).

He's got....I suppose a kind of minimalist style...he's decent...

and ganonbanned, I wasn't referring to Queen ...(though I do like their music ;)).

This comment probably doesn't belong here but oh well...

Yuck! Not that it's nasty sounding stuff...
But seriously, how old are you guys. I can understand this kind of music is soothing and relaxing, etc. But I mean doesn't anyone listen to some of the more recent(>1980s) music???
Something with a band name perhaps?

I'm sorry to intrude with like this, but i can't stand listening to music that was composed before my birth, or in a time period that I'd be studying in History class.

Sorry for criticizing your music genre.

I'm sorry but Classical laid the foundations. The instruments that your favorite 80's bands use were invented and used during the Classical Era. Classical music is relaxing yes, but is still very good, just because it actually is music. Some bands don't know how to read a music staff. Metallica, for instance, does not write their own song books, being the fact that they don't know what they are playing music-note wise. I'm sure other bands are the same way.
PSp is about 70% done, just have to do the controller and case.

I'm the same way.

Classical's cool, but I honestly would never listen to it by choice.
Oh yeah, and Metallica isn't my deal.
More like...
Switchfoot, or Sister Hazel, OAR, Dave Matthew's Band, Jack Johnson... :D
I'm all over the place with my music.(Except COUNTRY, hate it. And Rap)
You get the idea.
It's been a while since I've gotten on here.

Pachelbel and Beethoven are the only I've ever really listened too. I'm not a huge fan of classical.

Hmmm....as I expected :(. So far no real enthusiasts. Most are like my opposite, loving one "style" of music and generally respecting or occasionally enjoying another.

Also, whoever believes classical (small 'c' ;)) music is always soothing or relaxing obviously hasn't heard much ;).

Well, I'm mainly a Debussy man myself, with some Tchaikovsky russian influences.
I'm beginning to listen to a lot of Trans-Siberian orchestra. They're a group that plays classical songs with modern instruments and generally sounds amazing.

A lot of rock music was written by fellow classical organists who ran out of work ;)

I'm not really into classical stuff but Beetoven is my "least worst" :P .
Ozzy's been in the industry for around 40 years, does that count :P

Pachabel, Beethoven, LOTS of Wolfgang Ammadeus Mozart, some Handel every now and then (The Messiah PWNZ  ). I'm not so much a fan of "classical" music persay as I am of flowing orchestral and piano compositions.

And speaking of which, you could include many video game tracks in this genre! Pretty much anything by Nobuo Uematsu definitely falls into this category....
