PSP Custom Firmwares and other Hacks

Post by Harshboy » Sun Dec 24, 2006 5:56 pm

.:Dark_Alex's 3.10 OE-A Custom Firmware:.

.:DOWNLOAD HERE:.

This is custom firmware 3.10 OE-A:

Since it is the first release, it can only be installed as a full installation.
Instructions are as always, oeupdmaker to create the dxar from 150.PBP and 310.PBP, and 310oeflasher
to install the firmware from the dxar previously generated.

Although, it is obvious, i'll say it in capital letters: DO NOT USE ANY DXAR FROM 3.03 OE, USE THE ONE
GENERATED WITH THE INCLUDED OEUPDMAKER AND SONY 1.50 AND 3.10 FIRMWARES UPDATES.

Checksums of the generated dxar:

CRC32: 58D45EDF
MD5: BF1862F73FDF4B7458279ACFF4F6DAA2
SHA1: 683AD0ABA48A7968F3172A5AB2E41CF95A476801
SHA256: 2107EC67CE7434E250FF71AF302430B3586AA4519F3405D43594414B3C940B74

Note 1: the installer will disable all plugins to avoid incompatibilities when booting. You can
enable them again in the recovery menu.

Note 2: the plugin to load 3.02 pops won't work anymore in 3.10 OE, due to some changes in pops
modules structure (meaudio fused with popsman, idcanager/idmanager behaviour slightly changed).
A new plugin for 3.10 could be written next week.

Changes in 3.10 OE-A:

- Change from 3.03 firmware to 3.10

- 4th level of brightness (aka battery eater) can now be selected also without ac adaptor.

- Changes in hen core:

* Static user elf's can now be executed in the 3.10 kernel. (this includes snes user version
between other programs)

* Tyranid's patch (added in 3.03 OE-C) consequences was not explained very well in the changelog of 3.03 OE-C:

- For programmers: it allows kernel modules to have user imports, making kernel programming
in 3.03/3.10 less strict.

- For users: plugins and applications that worked in 2.71 SE, but not in OE, *may* now work in 3.03OE-C
and 3.10 OE-A.

.:PSP Wave Hex Editor:.

This program lets you edit the wave on your XMB of your PSP.

.:DOWNLOAD HERE:.

Read the readme before you do anything.

Example of how to hex:

Before hex editing it:

After hex editing it:

Just mix up the letters and numbers and stuff!
Don't go too crazy or the waves will disappear!

Stuff you can post: screenshots, tips, etc.

I have mixed opinions on 3.0X exploits. I personally will take great joy in PSP homebrew, but now devs have even less of a reason to develop a commercial game, as sales will be incredibly low. I'm still on devhook .51 with 1.5 firmware, but i'll just emulate 3.02 OE-B and run iso's that way...

Thats strange, because i can devhook the 2.71 SE firmwares. No matter, as long as it comes with recovery mode, i can always downgrade back to 1.5

EDIT: Also, i guess that this officially puts the PSP ahead of the GP2X in terms of homebrew, as it has a full speed PSX emulator with sound, a playable N64 emulator with low compatibility, and SNES, NES, CPS/CPS2, Genesis, Master System, etc emulation running at full speed

Well I dont think being able to play like 5 games at 5 FPS on a n64 emu is that big of a deal. And Well you have us at PSONE, oh yah accept it dosent have all thee buttons for PSONE and same goes for N64. And I would bet the gp2x has funner homebrew games, but i do not know do to lack of psp. Also if we threw tons of cash and GP2X's at coders we would have faster ps1.

Ahem, wow I never rant like that.

Don't forget full speed GBA emulation with perfect sound. I think the PSP Homebrew scene is comming a long much better than the GP2X. If Sony would just stop being a female of the dog species and let coders make homebrew without making people find loopholes, the Homebrew scene would be much larger, but oh well :?

Except when you're grasping for straws in a vein attempt at defending your console of choice

The PSP has overtaken the GP2x in the field of emulation. Combined with an expanding (but admitedly weak) library of commercial game titles, the PSP has become the better choice for gaming, media, and homebrew.

Really, people. Have the humility to admit when you have lost, whether the battle was imaginery or not.

Hopefully I'll receive the necessary items for getting into the DS homebrew scene tomorrow

I "acquired" Metal Slug X for PS1 to try this out tomorrow, if only Mathieulh gave me 3.02 OE-B early like he did for 2.71 SE-B :p

Yes Dark_AleX is my hero as well :p

and yes I realize I am talking like 0okm :p

Also I forgot, 3.03 was decrypted today by Team C+D

And of course we forgot the 2.80 downdate by 0okm.

Don't forget full speed GBA emulation with perfect sound
due to the hard work and diligance of zodttd and a few others the gp2x has a gba emulator that is in early beta stages and is already almost fullspeed with sound, and zod will be scratch coding a psx emulator that should be very close to fullspeed with moderate frameskip for most games when done, the only reason the psp has better psx and an n64 emulator is because it has a 3d accelerator and the gp2x doesnt. i still dont think the psp has "won" considering that the gp2x is a practically unknown product (less than 20k units worldwide i think compaired to the million plus psp) i would say as far as homebrew support and quality it holds its own! if gamepark holdings had one TENTH the cash to throw around as sony it would be anihilating the psp on almost every front :D

GP2x will take the lead eventually, i'd never want to emulate anything on a screen with such a low refresh rate as the PSP's, i'll stick with using commercial games. Also, the PSP has much more compatible hardware for emulating the PSX.
