Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

Snes Pinouts! (Sticky?)

Post by Nes Man »

These are the pinouts on the Snes board for the controler wires (V1). (Where the ribion cable port was.) This is how it looks:

(wire color, Controler #)

2 4 6 8 10
1 3 5 7 9 11

1. White, Con. 1&2
2. Blank, ?
3. Blank, ?
4. Red, Con. 2
5. Blank, ?
6. Red, Con. 1
7. Blank, ?
8. Yellow, Con. 1
9. Yellow, Con. 2
10. Orange, Con. 1&2
11. Brown, Con. 1&2

Please Note: I have tested all of these conections and they all work correctly.

Or try simply going to gamesx.com and looking for it on their index (or front) page. Its also at doomportables.org under the video mods.

no, this pinout isn't listed on gamesx or PoD, it's the ribbon cable pinout where the controller ports meet the snes, not the controller port individual pinout.

Im still not sure how sticky worthy this is... Maybe we should have 1 sticky for each forum (excluding f42) that has all the stuff like this that isnt worth sticking on its own. Kind of like grouping togeather all the helpful (and noobish question crushing) stuff.

The point is that the other forums have something about technical info that is worth posting so that newbies and those without the ablity to look for the info. So if we were to make a sticky in NES, SNES, PS, N64, Dreamcast and well three for the 128bit next gen consoles. Its going to take some planning to find out whats really relievent and keep things out that are either not that important or over doing it in explaination.

But I still think its a good idea. Its better than hearing 500 "whats a noac?" questions. Also this will be important when bens book comes out if any of the dudes who might say "Cool im gonna ask stupid questions without reaading the step by step guide..." Id (or B6 or gannon or spark) post some thing then we'de edit the post every time some new question comes up that has been answered many times before.

If someone could do a nice all-in-one how to like hk-47 did for the 2600 thread I'd gladly sticky it. I like the menu format that he used too, so something similar to that would be nice.
