amperage vs. voltage...
Post
by csurban » Sun Oct 01, 2006 6:20 pm
will a N64 by any chance run longer on 8 1.2v 2500 milliamp AA batteries =9.6v at 2500 milliamps vs. 6 1.2v 2500 milliamp AA batteries =7.2v at 2500 milliamps? I got them all wired as to increase their voltage not amprage and this output goes directually to a TI 3.3v switching regulator converter, directually to the 12v input in the N64, and directually to an UNMODDED PSOne screen. I am wondering if the N64 + PSOne screen will accept this higher voltage as more net work and save amps or will they just burn off the extra voltage a heat?
nope... can't think of anything I could possibly want to put in my Signature Block...

Since you're inputting into a 3.3V non-linear regulator, it should run slightly longer, although all the linear regulators will be producing more heat as well (the 7805 on the n64 and the 2 7805s on the lcd).

Yep! However, you won't get too much time out of it, any way. (Ah rating is low)

Yep, mine are only 2250mAh, should be able to run the n64p for 2+ hours on them.

I thought he was talking about the whole portable, not just the N64. And by low amperage, yes, I am talking about with a screen and all.

Im ok with the low life of a bettery pack because it is going to be external and changible. When one runs low, ill just put in another one!
