Post by kidw/32+systems » Thu Sep 21, 2006 1:02 am

I know most of you use Firefox so you must know of all the cool add ons you can get and I would to know some. Like I think there was one that translates words into 1337. I need to fill the HDD on this school computer.

Well I suck at spelling so the main add-on I get is "Allspell". Pretty much give you the ablity to spell check any text you enter in the browser.

Please note I don't think it's installed on my Linux box, I have to get around to installing it.

<u><b>Essentials</b></u>
I have these on every copy of Firefox on all my machines, plus the copy of Firefox Portable on my USB Hard Drive
  • -AdBlock (duh)
-AdBlock Filterset.G Updater (automatically updates AdBlock with the Piercieve FilterSet.G list)
<u><b>And the rest...</b></u>
All of my extensions on this PC, plus AdBlock and the updater.
  • - GreaseMonkey (applies user scripts to sites)
    - FoxyTunes (status bar controls for media players)
    - FasterFox (performance tweaks for faster browsing)
    - Customize Google (Google options, such as removing ads)
    - Backgroundimage Saver (saves background images, great for YTMND)
    - Tab Mix Plus (multiple tab rows, session saving, tab protection...)
    - Leet key (It lets you type in leetspeak. great for deciphering "l4mz0r5p33k".)
    - Bork Bork Bork! (Makes text look like the mock Swedish tha tSwedish Chef talks)
    - BBCodeXtra (right-click context menu for quickly setting HTML and BBcode tags)
    - Stylish (apply user styles to pages to make them neater or remove ads adblock can't get)
    - User Agent Switcher (fools the site into thinking you're running IE, Opera, or other browsers.

I wouldn't bother installing a spellcheck addon, since Firefox 2 should be made be released within a month or two & already has spellcheck built-in. (Firefox 2 beta 2 is already available for download)

by far the most nifty extension (if you use tabs a lot) is mouse gestures. it's just like the gestures in opera except customizable. it lets you close tabs, open new tab, switch tabs, go back and forward, and tons of other stuff by just right clicking and moving the mouse
