Mint Fish Salad Bread, or multi-system set up.

Do you have a technical question that doesn't really fit a specific console? Want some general info on electronics, hacking, making cookies, etc? Here's the place to ask! Go nuts.

Mint Fish Salad Bread, or multi-system set up.

I've seen examples of how people have combined two consoles into one device, however for a larger project I as thinking of possibly doing would be to create a system that would consist of a NES, SNES, Genesis, pda or similar device, possible a couple of portal devices. Depending on how adventures I am, I might try and put in a dreamcast for good luck. The system would probably be in a laptop style case.

However, thinking about what it would take to do this, I can think of some areas that be problematic:

1. The first is carriages:With at least 3 consoles that take cartridges, means that each system needs there own place to be able to insert there proper carriages. I was thinking of placing the cartridge slots behind the screen, but should I put them all in a straight row, and have a larger screen or double them, and make smaller screen:

Any other suggestions are welcome.
2. Am I going to run into a any problems combing systems like speakers, video output, and possibly having one controller for all systems?

One controller for all consoles will be your main trouble. Having multiple controller chips hooked together sometimes (varies by consoles and controller chips) causes things like buttons to not work, getting buttons that didn't press when you press another, and button presses when no buttons are pressed.

no that isn't you real big problem,

Since tact switches are DPST

just run one ------o o--------
and the other------o o--------

or you could use the same ground

--------o o---------to gound
--------o o

This would work since the ground is going to be common no matter what you do...

Just make sure you isolate the =5volt inputs (if there are any) and this should help you
