Car Help

Post by madc0w » Sun Aug 27, 2006 6:50 pm

Ok, my dad has a problem with his car. A couple months ago, the battery died on one of the remote things. We tried putting in a new battery, but I then realized that the signals would need to be sync (they like to co-ordinated signals or something, right?) but had no idea how to do this. Can someone help me?

What? Usually if you just take it to the dealership theyll replace the battery or something. If that's not possible, what do you mean by syncing it?

It's because the remotes swich frequency every couple seconds, in sync with each other. So you have to reset both at once.

are you sure that they don't just turn on when the car turns on?

Because they should sync due to the load demand placed upon the alternator whenever the car supplies the current

thats what i like about my car, its so old and simple it practically cant fail, hit by EMP would kill most cars not mine, no real electronics lol, just the distributer and altenator and starter woo! other advantages, no power steering means no power steering pump failurem its weight and durability make it less likely to be damaged in a wreck (cant say the same for driver and passengers tho :? ) and lots more, woohoo 1950s!

You don't need to sync the remote (is that even possible on a car?)

If he pressed the button on the key while the battery was out then there is a good chance that it lost the code. Press the button about 10 times while standing next to the car, If it doesn't open then you will need to get the key re-coded at the dealership.

Still got the 324 Rocket under the hood?

I am looking into a '50 2dr with a 303 Rocket, it has been in storage since the 70's. The owner wants $2300, but it is complete.
