PS2 Dualshock 2 Button Re-Wiring

I'm having the biggest problem yet is rewiring my L and R buttons on the Dualshock 2. I got a controller with the ribbon connector so i could wire switches to the pins, but damn the pins are confusing me!! Also, if somone has some info about the pinouts and how to wire the switches properly that would greatly help me overcome this. Thanks

All I can say is FOLLOW THE TRACE! Say you want X, take a blue highlighter and highlight the source on that flimsy ribbon plastic paper sheet, and by the way, the command is the one that doesn't connect to other buttons. Then with that hightlighter, follow the trace to the source, and then remember the pin it goes, try and follow it to the bottom and there you are, you have to base it on optical sense, well, that's all I can do.
