Audio CD Burning Help

Post by Sir Games-A-Lot » Fri Aug 04, 2006 9:38 am

All right, I know this is rather basic, but is there any way to burn an audio (standard, errm... I think it's called "redbook") CD, using a CD-R, so that it will play in older players that are not marked as CD-R compatible? I know that CD-R's use burned dots to store data while pressed CD's use little depressions, but is there any way to make the CD-R's dots mimic depressions so that they could conceivably be read by older players?

i think the problem is that the laser is just too weak to read a cd-r type disc.

you could try differnt kinds of discs. like black ones. and theres different kinds of dyes to choose from. but thats about it. get a newer cd player?

I read some where that the lasers used in audio CD players are standardized, what if I found a more powerful laser from a busted CD-R comptible player and swapped them out, would that work? Infact I seem to remember a thread where someone replaced the laser in their PSone with a CD player laser.

pretty sad that your cd player wont read burned discs when my cd player from 1985 (banf & olufsen beogram CDX) will read ones that are scratched to hell and burned discs with no problem

What kind of CD-R's are you using? I've tried playing burned discs (Sony and Verbatim) in a Sony CD player from July 1985, and both types work just fine.

Check it out!

Man, they just don't make them like the old days... (The days when my body consisted of dirt & water, waiting to be used by a plant organism to be eaten by either my parents or an animal to be eaten by my parents...)
