Is it safe to use the wash & bake method of cleaning on sensitive mobo's like a 360 or PS2 mobo? (Just curious)

Yeah, but then there's those times where you have to use the wash & bake method, like if you spill soda on a PCB.
Question: I've heard that caps explode from baking. Would this be something I should worry about on a non-PSU PCB?
Off topic: Just for the record, I've had a PSU catch fire, THE FREAKING DAY I WAS PLANNING TO GET AN AIR COMPRESSOR & CLEAN IT OUT!
