So has the heatwave gotten you? (Build log)

Post by sam » Thu Jul 20, 2006 10:29 am

I hit around 35 *C last couple of days in my summerschool math class, and I was pretty much dieing of heat, so I figured ill go home and it will be nice and cool, wrong again, its not that cool, the basement where I live right now is just as cool as upstairs. Now I did not endure 10* temperatures from a Canadian winter to have it not be ICE mofo Cold down here, not cool, COLD. So I decided to invest. And so began my quest for a homebrew AC unit. All credit and respect goes to Geoff Millburn who currently attends University of Waterloo, for a engineering degree. So here are the pictures with some commentary.

THIS SHOULD BE FINISHED BY 4:00 EST or earlyer, feel free to post any related info, or just a couple gripes about the heat. And mods, please dont lock this.

TADA some pics for you guys!

it's 102F and very humid here. there was a very strong storm last night that blew over some trees (it was just as hot before the storm as it is now) and it's supposed to be hot for the rest of the week and storm for 3 more days (possobily knocking out the power and air conditioner) without cooling down. it sucks

Dunno how hot 35C is, but down here, it's been over 100 for the past 3 days(F degrees) it sucks so much ass, but the summerschool I'm at has airconditioning :) It went down last week though, man talk about crazy heat. And the ac at my apartments suck, it's about the same inside as out in my place, it sucks so much man. I feel you dude.

I had to run cross country during the heatwave...we had workouts where we had to run a varsity course twice so I raced like 6.2 miles. That was killer :x Not to mention the temperature was around 99-100 for like 3 days in a row.

Well it's been rather mild here in Michigan, this week's been around 85 F (29.5 C). It was hotter last week were it hit the 90s, but that wasn't long.

AWESOME! You live in Michigan? That's where I'm from, and therefore where the rest of my family lives. Where in Michigan are you?

I live in Tennessee, and right now it's 101° which is pretty low compared to how it's been in the last few days... just yesterday it was 105° at one point. :? I never knew 4° could make such a huge difference! BTW, 101° fahrenheit is 38° celsius.
