SNESp Finished

Post by Mr. Hawkins » Thu Jun 08, 2006 4:21 pm

Wellllll, its been awile since I've worked on this thing. Decided to finish it up before the summer kicks into high gear (work and all). Got the hole case put together now and the wiring is finished except for the controller ports to the controller board. This is what the top looks like

Image

the top is made of an old clip board. I think that this is the best material ever! It is strong, lightweight, and thin (what more could a man ask for  ). The rest of the case is a plastic drawer from my work table. When I'm finished I'll post more pics.

Sweet Idea for the material. I think that's what I will use to replace the cardboard on the back of my snesp. Can you cut that stuff with an xacto knife

Sort of. You can score it and snap it off, but it is made like particle board, so it will break oddly. ideally you should use a dremel, but I used a hacksaw and an old jigsaw. Another note, make SURE to use a backing material and clamp it down when cutting into or drilling through a clip board. If you don't, the back side will flake away and turn out all crazy. If this does happen though, you can just sand it down.

Here is a pic of all of the electonics up an running. This weekend I will put the stuff into the case and will hopefully be done.

Very nice! Drop G-Force a line in the sticky so your SNESp can be in the database, right next to mine! I like the clipboard idea. By the way, how does the rest of the case look (IE sides, back, etc.)?

Nice case idea! Good job. You get a MacGvyer candy. It's made out for weird stuff that explodes though, so don't eat it.

I think using a clipboard for a case is not a bad idea. Though I would have to play around with it first to test things like durability and ability to paint, and other things like bending and such.
good jorb on the portable. :D
