Add/Delete files from .iso?

Post by bicostp » Mon Jun 05, 2006 6:04 pm

I'm trying to put together a custom Slax boot CD (hopefully it will fit on a pocket CD-R), and I need to be able to delete and add files from an .iso file. Why? Because I can either waste tons of CD-Rs, go to the store and spend money on CD-RWs (bleh :P) or I can boot the image with Bochs or VMware or something like that. (I'd prefer the third option :P)

Is there any decent freeware ISO editor out there? All the ones I've found so far were 30 day shareware trial things.

Thanks!

(My next project after this is a heavily customized DSL pocket CD. I'm starting with Slax because of its wide driver support. For some reason the colors on my DeskPro experiment box look funky with DSL...)

If you have a spare mac laying around, the disk utility can do all of that stuff, and even burn it when you're done :)

I'll be honest with you - I would have never guessed that.

The only spare mac I have lying around is a PowerMac 7600 with AV jacks running Mac OS 7.6.1 (lol old school! That thing's literally running in the 90's! :P)

As a side note, should I use VMware server? They apparently released it as freeware since the last time I checked... :D

@vb: It looks promising, but the SourceForge page says they have no packages uploaded and I can't find anywhere else with it up for download. :(

@timmeh: Winrar opens them, but it won't add or remove files.

There are other ISO editors on SourceForge. Look around.

hey, I rememebered the program i wanted to tell you about eariler. I think it's DVD Decryptor(google it) You should be able to open iso files, choose which files to be burned and which not or something, i dunno, might not be the right program, but yeah.
