How to get an avatar or signature

Post by Lucretius »

For both go to "profile" at the top of any page of these forums

-Avatars
--1. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page to "Avatar control panel."
--2. Make sure you have the image hosted on a site (check www.maj.com or www.imageshack.com for your hosting needs).
--3. Next to the next box there's a label that says "Link to off-site Avatar:
". In there type in the adress of the image. Something like: http://www.maj.com/gallery/lethis66/Misc/hobbes.jpg
--4. Click "Submit"

-Sig Pics
--1. Scroll to the middle section labeled "Profile Information"
--2. Make sure you have the image hosted on a site (check www.maj.com or www.imageshack.com for your hosting needs).
--3. Next to the next box there's a label that says "Signature:" In there type in the adress of the image. Something like: http://www.maj.com/gallery/lethis66/Misc/sf20040405.gif
--4. Before and after the address type , respectively.
Like so:

Code: Select all

--5. Go to the bottom and click "submit"

Hope that helps! :)

http://www.userbars.org

Here's a website people can upload their own to. Some are good, some are crap. They even have a tutorial on making your own with Photoshop! (You can't feasably use MS Paint for this. :P)

A couple I made when I was bored:

<img src="http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/9849/kahn1fd.gif">
KAAAAAAHHHHNNNNN!

<img src="http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/6947/ytmnd2vq.png">
YTMND

I can't get the font exactly right (it's the same font they use in the tutorial, but I can't figure out how to get the right outline. It's close, though.)

I busted some other guy's chops about it since I made it for myself, and then realised how sad it would be to continue on and go off at you about it since this is the Internet and I can't stop you.
Yeah, that was me. My face still hurts. :cry: jk

I gotta side with anotherperson on that one, in case a neutral opinion was wanted (I'm sure one person will say they wanted it, one will say they didn't :P )

Daguuy, if you wanted to use the images, it probably would have been best to PM and ask permission first. Of course, I think it would be awfully kind of anotherperson if he said yes ;)

Just my 3rd party view, I guess

About actually getting the images to use for sigs and avys, where should people with no means of resizing/cropping/modifying images request it to be done (just to avoid bunches of threads like 'could someone shrink this pic for me'…'ok, thanks' *lock*)?
