I read somewhere that rgb was different than componet?

that true rgb was a popular european thing and Component is a NTSC thing

Is this true?

well, RGB IS used more in europe...hence the RGB availability on PAL GCs...

anyway, RGB is simply red/green/blue and composite sync, which is basically just the simplest elements of the video....it's the best analog video because of that.

Component is a kind of mix of RGB signals...or, rather, the single components, but with one being luminosity and the other two for color. for more accurate information, check this page out :).

Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

yeah, component and rgb are completely different.

IIRC component uses luminance, red-blue and green-blue.

(dang, gamelver beat me to it... with more detail! and yeah... i was totally off as to what the components were.)

thanks guys i was thinking of doing some mods to my old consoles so that i could fit them in my room

I just want to maximize my video outpus when possible

In short one of these days i will create a complete "Retro console", it will contain all the consoles i have cluttering my room and i woul have more room to expand with :)

Anyway i would really want to also mods and create my own controller that would use all of the controllers in one

But alas i am really only dreaming
