I read somewhere that rgb was different than componet?

that true rgb was a popular european thing and Component is a NTSC thing

Is this true?

well, RGB IS used more in europe...hence the RGB availability on PAL GCs...

anyway, RGB is simply red/green/blue and composite sync, which is basically just the simplest elements of the video....it's the best analog video because of that.

Component is a kind of mix of RGB signals...or, rather, the single components, but with one being luminosity and the other two for color. for more accurate information, check this page out

yeah, component and rgb are completely different.

IIRC component uses luminance, red-blue and green-blue.

(dang, gamelver beat me to it... with more detail! and yeah... i was totally off as to what the components were.)

thanks guys i was thinking of doing some mods to my old consoles so that i could fit them in my room

I just want to maximize my video outpus when possible

In short one of these days i will create a complete "Retro console", it will contain all the consoles i have cluttering my room and i woul have more room to expand with

Anyway i would really want to also mods and create my own controller that would use all of the controllers in one

But alas i am really only dreaming
