7" screen

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

It depends on the quality of the screen. If it's a shoddy screen, then why buy it when PSOne screens are 25$?
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.

GREAT ITEM
This is absolutely a great LCD screen for your game consoles. It can be used for Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube which is exactly what i was looking for. It's adjustable and fits on all 3 systems perfectly, the sound that comes out of the screen is marvelous, and the picture quality is pretty good. You can get a s-video cable to improve the screen a quality a bit. It takes some geting used to to adjust to a smaller screen than a television. The price is pretty good since it's good for all 3 systems. The only downsides to it are that you still need to plug the screen and the console power pack into the wall, and it's a little difficult to see clearly on games that have dark backgrounds in them like Resident Evil games or Metal Gear. What it needed was a battery pack you could plug the screen into and the console power pack into as well to make it completely portable. You still need an wall outlet to play otherwise it would have been a five star item.

WOW those things used to be $200 CAD about 6-9 months ago when they came out, $60 CAD is a steal for what they are worth.

yea this screen seemed to be the choice for PS2p or a GCp since it accepts s-video and could be wired directly the only problem is that i do not =know the voltages required for the thing to run so until my cheap behind decideds to fork over enough money to start my projects i guess im in the dark

The screen is fairly good quality, I use it often on car trips and such. I'm surprised that its that cheap, since they're selling it in my local gamestop for about 100. I still think that since PSone screens are cheaper, and just as good quality, go with that. But if you'd prefer a 7" screen, go for this.

umm, sorry to kinda bump this topic, but does anyone know of a way to get VGA or RGB to work on this screen?

Do you have this screen?
It's entirely possible that you can feed RGB into it, somewhere. Get on google and search for part datasheets that correspond to the IC chips on the LCD controller.
Eventually you'll find a ADC type chip and you might look for (Analog R,G,B, and Composite Sync) on the pinout.
