X-Box portable!!!!!!!

Post by Houdini » Wed Nov 30, 2005 5:42 pm

Well here's me and my friends idea: make a backpack that carries the consol (confortably) with the battery. Then make an LCD head set that goes over your head like an R-Zone. Have the x box controller come out of the pack. Here is an image to clarify. I am serious about this and have already started. The backpack part is already done. All i need is a batery and im set!!!!
No seriously how big is this????? pics soon

and by "BATTERY" you mean Loads and loads of batteries. Plus you have to buy something to regulate out all them voltages.

This=difficult.

(and this whole backpack thing, I dont know how, but when I first started portablizing when I was like 12, I thought of that exact same idea!)

the backpack idea is good, but for an xbox you need a lot of power, maybe you should fill it with rechargable AA's! SUPA POWAH!

1. Wire two 12v lead acid batteries in parallel
2. Run Xbox off batteries through 120vac inverter
3. Pay for foot surgery because of backpack weight

Ok this is insane. First yes I know you can fit the xbox into a backpack, but a headset display like the virtual boy? And sealed lead acid batteries?

First the draw of the Xbox last I heard was around 2 amps, so really sealed lead acid batteries will do nothing but kill your back. You can also cut down power draw by replacing the hard drive with a smaller one (laptop or 1.8") and if you mod it remove the DVD-rom.

Now the display... a nice idea but I dont know how comfortable you'd be if your on a train or airplane or something like that and you can only see the game screen. I'd like to keep it so I can see if someone is going to touch my stuff or mess with me.

I'm not shooting the whole idea down its just some aspects of it are not very practical.

How could you play and walk normlly if oyu can't see becuase a huge asshelemt covering your eyes!? Its only portable in the sense you can carry the whole thing at one time. It's only playable when you stop, and can play the game without disruption or walking into things? There can't be both here.

what i've come up with for the backpack idea is make a unit (like a regular portable) that has a screen and a controller, and keep the system in your backpack.

so basically XBOX, batteries, and a butt load of regulators in the backpcak and a hip gear for controller? i'd much rather have a bulky handheld than a backpack
