Original NES mobo

Post by Sparkfist »

Has anyone besides Ben built an NES using the original mobo? I know Nin Nin is working on one, but has anyone finshed it and can offer advice/tips/suggestions as to how to build one. Thats.

Here's one :). I think he was Tighe on the old forums but I haven't seen or heard anything from him in awhile so it doesn't look like he can give many hints/tips/suggestions......his site has an unfinished howto on building a NESp like his, so maybe that'll help.
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

It's nice though, a properly cut down nes mobo is only a little bit larger than the game carts :)

yeah, but NOACs are way smaller than NES carts ;)!!!!!!!!!!!!
it's easier to just use the original NES mobo, though....

I would get a NOAC but Gannon's shipment isnt in.

As for the construction, the guy's how-to has him using a game genie. I have one but how reliable it it? I'd like to waste as little as possible if I take this on.

Also I'll be using an original NES if Gannon hasnt gotten his NOAC in by the time Ben's book is released.

I'd use a different connector, or perhaps the BOTTOM of the connector, since it is so prone to malfunction...

I started work on one, but controller after controller got the best of me. I built it extremely cheap, the screen don't count as it was bought for the SNES originally. ;P

Well I couldnt wait (what a suprise) so I hoped on ebay and bought me two NES, a controller and stuff. I should be able to get one of them working, so I can have at the very least an NESp by Christmas.... my very own present to myself.

I also bought an N64 game, just a cheap NFL. This means I'll be able to work on my N64 too. Couldnt go anywhere as I didnt have a game.

yeah, without a game for your N64, it'd be pretty hard to work on a portable one.....it could be broken and you wouldn't even know!!!!
good luck with your NESp and your N64p!!!!!!!!!!
