Dvorak Keyboard
Moderator:Moderators
I just changed my keyboard so that I can type the dvorak way (For those of you that dont know: in the 1930s John dvorak invented a keyboard so that people could type faster, with all the most used letters on the right hand, and in the home row, but it never really caught on with the general public). Its really hard to adjust, but I should get the hang of it. Its probably going to be hard to type on other computers, but I plan to try to keep up my qwerty typing abilities, by using them on my internet connected computer downstairs, and useing dvorak on my non-internet, and therefor slightly less used, computer in my room. Has any one else used this keyboard?

One time I was using my iBook at GP15's house (ok, I just opened my eyes, since I thought I het some extra buttons, which I didn't) and his brother was amased at how fast I was typing, especially when I did it with my eyes closed. I once wrote a paper for school on my bed, with my laptop, half asleep. Very rewarding

I can type wiutg mr eytes closed too!
Wow, I'm surprised I did that good! I thought it would've been complete jiberish! I can type fairly fast if I'm looking at the keyboard and know what I'm going to type. If I have to copy off of something though, I'm really slow. I've tryed learning to type before, but I've never really been able to get it. Not great for someone who wants to be a programmer, lol.

I'm trying to type with my eyes closed. I probably screwed up big time.
Holey spit I actually did it well! This is surprising, because I never learned to type with the home row thumbs-on-the-space-bar way. My hands are always moving around the keyboard, slamming out letters at roughly 55-60 words per minute. (if you thgink I'm kidding, you don't know how wrong you are ) I was just judging by where the keys were for that top sentence pair. It was pretty slow (those two sentences were at about 20 words per minute) but it got the job done.
EDIT: I timed this post, it took about one minute to type, excluding the closed-my-eyes-and-typed part. roughly 59 WPM. Not too bad.

Yeah it's a bit different. I would have to adjust to the switch, but anyone can adjust eventually.
