the nomad screen: good or bad for handheld building?

Post by d33pthawte » Tue Nov 08, 2005 6:16 pm

i know that the gamegear screen is no good for making handhelds because of the rgb color thing, but is it the same for the nomad screen? i saw one on ebay for not to bad-i have a ps one screen which i know will be great for a handheld, but i was thinking a smaller screen might be good for a NOAC handheld. anyway i would appreciate some feedback. thanks.

Nomad has a special connector. Someone else break it to him...

no, gamegear has a special connector (tv tuner). nomad can be modded for RGB or something like that, but it's a passive matrix screen so it can get kinda blurry

Go see Kevin horton's page
http://www.tripoint.org/kevtris
And you'll see he built a chroma decoder. This is what you need to use the Nomad screen, (but that screen is junk anyway.)

Unless you're capable of building this, then stick with PSone screens for now.

AJ, thanks for reminding me.. I kind of do this automatically if you know what I mean. I would copy it to my own server but I doubt Kevin checks his mail often.

@ marshallh:

Please edit your post to remove the direct link to Kevin Horton's image. This is a breach of netiquette, known as "hotlinking". It's a very bad idea too, since, as you might have noticed, the owner of the file can change it to whatever he chooses.

A better choice would be to link to the HTML page on Kevin's site which contains the image (if possible), or to his site homepage. As a (usually) last resort, with Kevin's permission you could copy the image to your own webspace, then direct-link it.
