I hate the N64 controller!!!!!!

Post by EXE »

this thing is going to be the death of me LITERALLY!!!!! cutting the board into three is hard because the signals are way to small for me to solder, and I think that some of u got the signal from the back of the controller but I dont know. The controller is the only reason why Im having trouble with case cunstruction and I might make my own controller or Ill get that SUPER PAD 64 controller or something. I usually hate to ask for help because I want to do this myself but......help :(

Just tin the wires and put some flux on the traces, and it should be fairly easy to solder.

super pad 64(again)

Intech made its own super pad 64 and so did nintendo, I am talking about the official nintendo version,If anyone has it. I was hoping that was easier to use for the controls for my N64p.

Use the edit button.

Daleighan, flux is used to conduct heat, so solder melts and sticks to things faster and easier. It is usually used for solderring to small things or components that fry easily(ICs, transistors, etc...). Almost all soder already contains flux, but extra flux makes solderring easier. Lemon juice can be used as flux, but is corrosive, so it isn't good for projects that you plan to use for a long time.

Do you tin the tip of the iron when you unplug it? If you've already sanded it down some, or it's just old, the plating on the end of the tip is probably gone. Using tip tinner, or just leaving some solder on it, makes it so when you heat it back up again the tin/solder oxidizes instead of the tip.
