1. Mr. Moore placeed the following Diagram on the borad.
-----/------------------------ If all the horizontal lines are parrallel,
' / ' what is the value of Y? Show your work
' / y degrees '
' -/---------------------/-----'
'/ (9y-20) degrees '
'---------------------/--------'
Help me do it. Dont tell me the answer. Get the answer in your head. Teach me how to solve it and the let me solve and see if my answer matches yours. By thw way this is 8th grade math. So if it's a dumb question but like I said before math isn't my subject. Lastly teach me the Pythagoreon Thereoem A2 + B2= C2 I forgot. Sorry

The Pythagorean Theorum is A squared + B squared = C squared.
Could you please draw the diagram in Paint and post the pic? The ASCII diagram isn't very clear.

Pythagoreon Thereoem is when you solve the length of a side of a right triangle that is not known.
A and B are for the sides that make up the 90 degree angle of the triangle, and C is for the hypotenuse, or the remaining side.
Let's say that A=6 and B=7, but C is not known.
6 to the second is 36, and 7 to the second is 49.
36 + 49 = C to the second power.
36 + 49 = 86, so C to the second power is 85. Find the square root of 85 and you have figured out what the length of C is.
Hope that isn't too confusing.

a^2 + b^2 = c^2
Thus...
b^2 = c^2 - a^2
a^2 = c^2 - b^2
Thus...
b^2 = c^2 - a^2
a^2 = c^2 - b^2
