Post
by jeroen » Sat Feb 18, 2006 2:52 pm
I was soldering a 40 pin chip socket on a board, when I reallised it was the wrong spot.
I don't have a desoldering iron. (i'm gonna order one asap) but does anyone know another way of desoldering it?

I think heating up a solder point and then very quickly tapping it against a table top or whatever and repeating until all the solder is off would be the only way.
I've often found if people spend less time worrying about what someone the other side of the world has posted on an internet forum and more time getting laid, they'll be a lot less tense.

if it's nintendo, can't you just rip it off and unsolder the individual pins then slide them back into their slots?

Well, I suppose it IS possible to invent a device, or find one, that can connect all the pins together on one side, then heat it up with the soldering iron, thus heating up every pin (although if your iron isn't hot enough it might not work)

Yeah that would work. But I think i'm just gonna order a desoldering iron. (or something similair) It also ads that the holes are nice and clean because I still need to use them.

Radio shack has these cheap desoldering bulbs for about $5. Only problem is that the solder is easily clogged in the tip. (a small nail or a needle can help with that, though
