SD Cards

Post by minkster » Fri Jan 13, 2006 9:45 pm

Well my GP2x should be coming in a day or two, and I was looking into getting an SD Card. I was wondering if I should go for a 3rd party kind, or if I should stick with the more expensive one such as the SanDisk brand. The reason I ask this is because some cards supposively have trouble on the 2x when it comes to upgrading firmware or being compatible with the system. I have enough money for either kind, but I just wanted your opinions on this

I'm not sure about the 2x firmware problems but I have a 512mb pny sd card for my digital camera and it works fine it seems like a good product so I guess a pny card would be a good choice also I have pny flash drive and its treated me well so going with a third party brand may not be a bad idea.

Thanks for the advice guys, I ended up buying a 1gb sd card from newegg.com $36.44 plus 8 bucks with shipping and tax (Original price was $56.44 but you get a $20 rebate) Hopefully it will work well :P

EDIT: Here is the link

I found out about 20mins ago my GP2x came in! It really looks very sleek and the menu looks very nice. I don't think you can do much with it if you don't have an SD card, so I will have to wait a couple of days for the order to come in :( Oh well, at least once it comes in I'm all set

most things that take SD cards also take MMC cards, which are a few quid cheaper in most cases, sure its only 2 or 3 pounds but whatever
