Hackers (Movie)

Hotdog-Cart, this isn't a chatroom!
As for the thread; Never heard of "Hackers" and "Swordfish" was crap. Really I watched "Pirates of Silicon Valley" for about 30 minutes and was more entertained then watching the whole "Swordfish" movie.
Hollywood sucks!

Back before they formed Apple, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak made "blueboxes", which basically were telephpone keypads that let you dial a payphone for free. They got pulled over once but the cops didn't know what the blue boxes were, so they didn't get busted for it.
(The things you learn by watching Pirates of Sillicon Valley)
I think theres only something like 5 pay phones in the United States any of the old phone phreaking stuff will work on, but there may be only 1 or 2.
www.textfiles.com has a bunch of text files on this subject. They're good for reading material, but the methods and devices are basically useless now so it's OK to have all this stuff.
The site has a lot of tet files from old dial-up BBSes, it's kind of interesting if you're old enough to remember them.

Pirates of silicon valley was really good. Which kind of reminds me what ever happened to NEC they are still around but aren't nearly as big as they used to be. I never saw Hackers or Swordfish I saw like five minutes of Swordfish though and could tell that it didn't accuratley depict much about hacking.

Hacking a bank is not easy most banks have all of the important records backed up on paper so they would catch you and they have all of the money records on a different network (usualy) that isn't really connected to the internet its really only on a WAN to connected to their other banks.
That street light thing sounds fun I would have one of the those verizon cards for my comp so I could have internet anywhere and then I would have all the lights I am coming up on turn green when needed.
