OK, here is your christmas present, a preliminary pinout of the VG Pocket Max LCD. It is far from complete, and possibly inaccurate.
I don't have very good tools, i risked frying the system to learn this. I wish I had an oscilloscope so i could be more certain of what i think are the sync lines.
Ok, i wasn't sure which side was 1, or that you would know which side started with 1. So, to make it simple, on the VG Pocket Max, 1 is the pin nearest the inside, and 24 nearest the outside (right and left are relative to which direction you have the board turned).

so the lcd isnt digital RGB? that means it might be useable as a portable screen right?

Yes, it should be useable as a portable screen. Though I think more research needs to be done to confirm the syncs, and figure out the rest of the pins as well.

Other models of VG Pocket different sized LCDs, and may speak a totally different language. So if it isn't the Max i can not even guarentee that it is analog RGB.
I have seen the VG Pocket 50 for 29.99, so if thats the one don't rely on my info to figure it out. I only have the VG Pocket Max.

yes, it's 2.5"
I believe it goes like this.
vgPocket Lite is 1.5"
vgPocket 50 is 2.0"
A rather highres photo i found of the vgPocket 50 shows the LCD to have 33 pins instead of 24. It's almost assured that the vgp50 uses a digital signal rather than analog RGB. It would be interesting to note, that the LCD in the CVS Camcorders are also 33 pins, so they may be related.
