BUMP
I got into cubing this summer. My current record is 1 min 46 sec. I have been using this timer..
http://www.speedcubing.com/games/OnlineTimer.html
I was wondering how that 5x5 one is, I am interested in getting one. I have heard that the 4x4 ones are harder than the 5x5 since the fiver's centers stay in the same place all the time (kind of). Also I like making random patterns like checkered or striped, what ever. I did buy spare stickers for my cube too, sure beats buying a new one.

EDIT: 1 min 42 sec...getting better
EDIT: 1 min 34 sec...

I've been wanting to buy a 5x5 cube but it's like $30 and I'm horribly cheap lol. The 4x4 one I have is pretty hard because it has to "middle" like the 3x3 does.

I went to high school with a guy who became state champion at the Rubiks Magic Puzzle (the flat thing with the rings drawn on it)

He showed me a move that makes it a hell of a lot quicker than normal...

I had darth vader rubiks cube that was really hard. I finished it once in like 3 hours, put it on my bed and came home from my friends house only to find it un-done from my brother.

Well, you have to remember that each edge will always have the same colors glued to it, so you have to count that in somehow. There are:

8 sections with 3 colors each
8 sections with 2 colors each
6 sections with 1 color each

I don't know how to calculate that in, but that would certainly affect the odds. Perhaps the final equation will contain radicals of some sort?

Actually, a hammer and glue is not neccessary. All you relly need to do is pry off one or two blocks with a screwdriver and then the rest will slide out. Then you just put them back in.

heh, those are really hard to solve. 5*5 is a lot harder than 3*3.
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.

He just has a really good mental image of what the cube looks like. Then he can move it around in his mind. im working on it! And typamc95 how is the 5x5, do the same rules apply. Just a whole new set of patterns? And anyone want to share about the 4x4. I need something new!
