Plastic case = dead portable?

Post by atkafighter » Sat Aug 20, 2005 11:04 pm

Hi,
Recently I (almost) finished a portable. I made the case out of acrylic found around the house (some thick clear plastic). I'm thinking that my portable died because of static electricity in the plastic I built the case out of. If this is the case (no pun intended) should I connect the ground to the case (to prevent further mishaps)? I will most likely change my material for the next portable I make.
Thanks

Did you test it before you put it in the case of death?!

Plastic (as far as I know) cannont conduct electricity, even static. Perhaps you fried a fuse touching it when you put it in the case?

Ziploc bags tend to stick to walls pretty nicely when they are fresh out of the box. :P
Current Status: Single and Portableless.

Yes, and it worked! It stopped working once I was able to borrow a camera. It just stopped powering up, and since I already bypassed the fuse once I assumed that it died.
