I'm sorry to have heard about your eloved soldering iron dieing out. If I lived close to you, I'd go by and pay my respects. I've used the same iron for a few years, and I've had to change the tip a few times, othewise it's worked pretty well. Perhaps it is a problem with the iron, not a power surge? I'd take a little look inside and see if I could find any shorts.

yeah ben that sucks about your soldering iron but maybe spongebuel is right it you should look at the inside if you already didnt and see if its fixable. If its not i wouldn't bury it or burn it to ashes i would take the handle off and use it for a project and you could probably still use the tip just not the innards of it.
Ben, i am so sorry about your... wait, did you say the PS2 was on? Why would someone have a soldering iron out while the PS2 was running? I figured it out! You were um... no wait i forgot again. Maybe someone else can finish for me...

i doubt it read this
it was in the buy portables section it does not mean he isnt building a ps2p it'd be cool if he was but it says that hes selling a new psp and thats probably what hes building. But then again why would the ps2 be plugged into the power strip by the soldering iron. Who knows? We all will know soon when the mystery portable is on the site.[/quote]I am planning to sell the latest hand-built PSone portable, however it won't be available and I won't be around until the week of the 13th of September. I have to put some more graphics on it and get it ready to ship as well. If you're interested, email me an offer, and I'll try to get back to you that week. Thanks!
