I had a wreck today

Post by nightwheel » Mon Apr 18, 2011 9:25 pm

Don't start with the no blogging bit tonight. You guys should be happy I'm still able to even make this post right now.

Anyways, I had a bad wreck today. Both cars are totaled annd we are both fine.

I was coming out of driveway for a local scrap yard. After dropping off a small load of scrap. And I didn't look left one more time before pulling out. And got nailed real good in the front of my truck. No long drawn out explanation, just me not paying attention.

Glad everyone is ok.
Did your grille and lights just shatter into a billion pieces? Looks like you might be able to salvage it, or at least use it as a farm vehicle or offroad project.

Understatement of the day:

Wow, that sucks.

Yowtch

Glad you're all right.

As for the truck...bah, it's fine! A little duct tape and some hot glue and she'll be roadworthy once again in a cinch

Didn't you see the giant puddle of what is presumably every fluid a vehicle could possibly have? :P

Maybe patching the fluid lines up would make it run without exploding, but it looks like the frame's tweaked and it's a 4 cylinder.

Technically, couldn't you just roll it back into the scrap yard?

Oh, I thought that was headlight fluid.

Glad everyone's okay.

Actually, they used their large forklift this morning. And just carried it into the scrap yard.

We only had liability on the truck. So having it next to the scrap yard saved me and my parents a towing bill.

We ended up getting $290 for it at the yard. Better than nothing I guess.

We did keep the wheels and tires though. We took them off last night after a cop told us that they might not be this morning if we left them on there.

Did you pull the console and instrument cluster too? Allot of switches and gauges to playwith.

Those are a pain in the butt to pull out of modern cars, especially ones that have been pretzelized.

Glad you're okay. Sucks :(

For what it's worth, I'd done the exact same thing. Pulling instrument clusters and other assorted parts off the car that you just almost got killed in a few hours before is not really something that appeals to you when you just saw your life flash in front of your eyes.

Glad to know it was a very short trip for it. Flatbed towing would've cost all your take from the scrapyard. Stupidly enough, I think they should've paid you more. The metals alone in the catalytic converter are worth $290.
