Just wondering if anyone knew. Will the 3DS stick work with old DS games like Mario 64DS? If so that would be awesome.
That's Hacking Awsome

I don't think it will since the 3ds has its own games with a 3D engine dedicated to just that itself.

I would assume so, when in ds mode it probably will put it in a mode that treats it as another Dpad. Just dont expect it to be like a true analog stick in DS games.

Yes but it's not like a cool feature as if like if your playing pokemon you can move in every single direction; it can be used the same as the d-pad. And you can use either of themduring a game.

OOPS! I thought you meant supported 3d for original ds games . It should since it would attract more buyers.MrAfterFx wrote:I don't think it will since the 3ds has its own games with a 3D engine dedicated to just that itself.

well all quake engine games are 3d right off the bat. knowing nintendo (and the fact that stereoscopy has been on the market unnoticed for some years previous to Avatar) nintendo may even have some limited cross over (can't imagine they weren't thinking ahead though). the fact's not one of us has a 3DS to speculate, but I imagine they want to save backwards compatibility and still introduce demand for the new games.
@the joy stick question
most game pads are now going 16 directional any way, I'm sure they would use that new thumb stick and let the X/Y axis sit Horz/Vert (ya ever use a joy stick on a pc).
Also that Youtube link is a bit to much an assumption. (the bit about leaving the black bars on the side, take a look at your GBA and tell me they didn't make a wide screen function)

found this:
http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=149462" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This information comes from hands-on impressions of the 3DS at a UK event...
- no multitasking while playing DS games
- game will ask if you want to go back to the 3DS menu instead of letting you use multitasking features
- doesn't seem to be options available for DS games
- scaling/smoothing applied to DS games
- no graphical boost to games
- no black borders on bottom screen, black borders on top
- download play options for all DS iterations
- Circle Pad supported, but only works in 8 directions (like the dpad)

This is good it looks like true foresight, unlike the questionable battery of updates Microsoft and Sony have for backwards compatibility.
