Ultimate Security?

Post by gamemasterAS » Sun Jan 30, 2011 4:13 pm

I'm bored and I have a spare computer so I've been thinking, how could you make an ultra secure PC? Some of my ideas so far have been

-Use a vpn that uses openvpn encryption (not ptpp)
-Use Truecrypt to encrypt the entire hard drive using a cascading cyper with AES, Swordfish and twofish
-Use some linux OS (still have no idea what I'd use)

This is all I have. What do you guys think? Anyone have any ideas? I've always loved the idea of making something ultra secure. I have nothing to hide but its just a cool concept.

I should set terms for this. The PC has to be online.

Windows 95.

With decked out hardware, a win95 bomber will work just as well for most tasks as a modern PC (doesn't do gaming well tho, unless said game was made with 95 in mind lol).

I built a compy like that for a friend some time ago and he's been using it for a lot of tasks, and it still works flawlessly.

Dunno of that counts as ultra-secure, but it's definitely (seemingly) virus proof lol.

Probably the most virus-resistant OS you can get your hands on that still has a shot at being useful is Mac OS 9. There are maybe 300 viruses out there for the classic Mac OS, counting all the extinct joke ones people made in the 80s.

Windows, when set up properly and used with half a brain, stands up to normal network use as well as Linux can.

However all you can really do is client side security unless you use proxies and VPNs.
