wired/wireless xbox on pc help, fine on pc, not on game

Post by HardcoreLewscher » Tue Aug 03, 2010 12:13 pm

ok so here me out and let me know
ive tried using my wireless xbox 360 controller with the plug and play lead on my PC, with no effect, :/
now my thinking is that the cables only to charge the battery, simples yeah,

however the wired 360 controller's usb wire is to transfer button movemements correct?
so could i use a 360 wired controller to use or pc games? (ala tonyhawk pro skater3)

or am i going to have to buy a ps2controller/adaptror or a pc logitech controller?
also anyhelp on a good pc gamepad would be great thankyou,

any help on getting my controller to work on tonyhawk proskater 3?
works fine in controll pannel, only thing that shows up in game options is keyboard :-/

This guy tried to do the same thing you did and post #4 explains why it didnt work.

http://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/56725 ... r-drivers/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The wired one will work fine, all you need are the drivers.

You can also use a wireless 360 controller if you get an adapter that Microsoft makes.

Any 3rd party wired controller will work too, I use one for familiarity whilst gaming.

decided to use full editor on this last post, anyways once this thhread is done please LOCK it dont delete as this information can be helpful for other people. well here it is...

1-Okay first off you will not be able to use a ps3 controller that will not work for anything especially with the xbox software.
2-Now here is the threads link: http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx ... 1#46963465 (WARNING DO NOT TRY ON MOBILE DEVICE OR REALLY SLOW COMPUTER AS ITS A SLOW LOAD)
3- For those of you who cant load it here is the quote from my thread.
Spoiler:
you actually still need the programs its the same thing and yes you can use it on halo 2. you need to get the software that lets it read a 360 remote. i play halo custom edition and halo 2 all the time with my wired and wireless. you get the software and connect the adapter and your done. here are the links to it:

Wired:
http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/x ... px?ID=9063" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; 47&lcid=1033&category=hardware

Wireless:
http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/n ... D=906947&a" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; mp;lcid=1033&category=hardware

thats pretty much all you need it will work on all pc games that support gamepads
4-To have the controller work it must be plugged into the controller before you even open the game. then it will work. if you did that then you must configger the controls in game if that doesnt work then it just means that the game doesnt support it. i play halo custom edition all the time.
Well thats prettly much it and remember if your giong to end this thread dont delete lock it as it will be helpful for people
