There's "View new posts"... Is that the same thing? (I never used the "view unread posts" function, so I'm not sure.)

it's pretty much the same, except the "view unread" will show you all unread, while "view new" has read or unread and drops off after a certain amount of time. so if I go the whole day without checking, I might miss some posts.

minor gripe, not trying to be nitpicky.

I got ReCaptcha to work, so maybe now the captcha will finally keep spambots at bay. 8)

That's the most painfully ironic thing I've ever seen. But too funny to take down, I just changed the links

Edit: how did you do it anyway, Bic? And even if it doesn't work perfectly, at least reCaptcha has the best system for captchas and will probably be updated more often than phpBB is (I think that'd be carried over without a phpBB update, depending on if it loads the program from a local copy or not, never checked that)

I just purged the forum cache from the main ACP page after changing the captcha settings.

We can try the Q&A captcha. Come up with some unique stuff... It would probably stop the spambots that don't have people signing them up. Too bad it doesn't let you have more than one active at once.

Maybe we should throw ASIRRA in there, too. :|

This update is so full of fail. You upgrade the forum, for the sake of keeping spambots away, and still half the threads I see on here have some kind of spam.

This version was supposed to have some extra features to keep them at bay. For the most part, we didn't actually create the code, just installed an update for the software running the forum. It's like if you got a bunch of viruses on your computer, then updated Windows because the newer version was supposed to be more secure, except it still isn't. Except you actually should be surprised when this doesn't work, unlike Windows :P

We have the bacon test.

Go ahead, register, see it.

So far: No spambots. We've had em before, haven't seen em since.

Changed again. Now it's set to the Q&A captcha, with some random questions in place.
