Plan on buying a dsi, fill me in.

Post by Oniak » Wed Oct 07, 2009 11:01 pm

I plan on buying one within the next few days, can anyone give me the "Low down" on the dsi? It will be my first DS(Always wanted one, step dad kinda forced me to get a psp and I hated the games for it, I've always been a nintendo fanboy)
Has the region lockout been bypassed yet? That was a real dick move by nintendo. I'm sure theres ways to pirate games and patch them for us region but I'd prefer not to download games for a ds as I already do that for a few consoles and i'd like to atleast support nintendo....(I can't justify paying 70$+tax for a xbox game. I used to but got tired of it after paying a lot of money for 30+ games).
Anyways yeah. info would be appreciated!
Reccomend some games too.
I plan on getting:
Trauma center
Zelda phantom hourglass
Metroid prime
Lunar knights
I need some good rpgs as well

You made your first post at 11PM my time and your second post 8.5 hours later. I would bet that more than 90% of the regular members haven't logged on in that time period. Which is why we have a 24 hour bump rule (actually, I just checked the rules, and it isn't written  Revision time...).

I'm anti-DSi. I wouldn't sacrifice the GBA port for a camera and crappy downloadable minigames. I vote "get a lite."

DS Lite is the way to go, seriously. I can hook you up with one if you're interested ;)

I regretted buying my psp, too. I enjoy playing about two games on it... :/. Ds is a different story, though! I recommend trauma center, n+ (extremely addictive and simplistic, couldn't put it down. Cheap, too!), professor Layton and the curious village (addictive puzzler. At times it can be pretty tricky though), and of course Zelda (though I'm still a bit peeved at the stylus only controls.) My next purchase is going to be bowser's inside story, which I've heard is excellent :) you won't regret buying a ds in the least.

Don't forget scribblenauts!

and regarding Zelda I wasn't too keen on the stylus only controls at first either but I got used to and enjoyed them rather quickly.

Well if your into arcade style racers, get Trackmania DS.

And don't forget to get a Flashcart. Just make sure you keep up on the Flashcart's software updates so that it can continue to work on the DSi

Mario Kart DS is great, the new Super mario bros is fun too!

Hm. RPG-wise for the DS....I Know Final Fantasy III is available (good port too) and I think Final Fantasy IV is also on there *checks google* Yep, FFIV is there for DS. ...that's the only RPGS that I can think of for the DS (not a big RPG fan myself, tho I do have FFIII, and it's pretty nice).

Some of the best games I've played so far and that i suggest.

Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (i hated the idea of Cel-Shaded, but this game made me like it)
Mario Kart DS (Fun with friends and online)
Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword (Challenging)
Kirby's Canvas Curse (Challenging Kirby Game)
Pokemon: Platinum (If you care to play those games)
New Super Mario Bros. (Cross between like Mario Bros. 1 with Super Mario World)
Kirby's Super Star Ultra (It was alright, not a bad buy, just an improved port of the SNES version)
Animal Crossing: Wild World (Game has no end by the way...)

My Friend would suggest:
Scribblenauts
Elite Beat Agents

I second Elite Beat Agents.

And Tetris DS (If you can find it that is, Rare Game)
I sold mine to Gamestop, and I believe they gave me $20 at least in In-store Credit, though I have a flashcard, so it doesn't really matter.

I bought all my DS games new, so all the game devs got my money for them.

It is a real shame that my Brothers Rare Zelda DS lite has a Busted hinge, and a broken Slot 1 Cartslot. :( Seriously thinking of sending it to nintendo and pay them to repair it, since it is such a Rare DS lite. I would hate to see it go in the scrap heap.
