Yeah...that's probably from the fact that canada was part of the britons for a long time...and practically every major conflict England has been involved in directly affected their populas. So in a way, everyone was essentially drafted during those conflicts. It was pretty much either join the army and get armaments so you could fight the enemy, or just sit around and get your butt kicked.
