Hey guys. I saw a video on youtube, that shows some gear that a guy made. Its like a glove with a lighter and a fuel system that makes a flame thrower.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hOv-wmpX3I" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Theres the video.
As you can see, It looks like it can be built with:
-Jet Torch Lighter (Or any flame source.)
-Some type of aerosole or gas (Fuel)
The lighter is a torch lighter so it does not have a friction wheel.
I imagine it works like this:
String Tied to thumb is attached to the friction lighter button, and pushes it down when he pulls back thumb. Which lights the lighter. The string tied to his middle finger, is connected to an aerosole can or fuel source which pushes the nozzle of it which travels through a line when he pulls his hand back. Those two things together make the flame.
I want to make this. Heres my questions:
1) When aerosole is running through a line (Imagine canned air, but the line is flexible. Its not a stiff straw), does it still stay gas? (I would need it to stay gas, because the gas is more likely to combust, which makes the flame.)
2) If not, how could I may it stay gas, or what other fuel could I use which would work? (The selected fuel needs to be able to run through a line, and be flammable when it comes out.)
3) Isnt this cool? Hahaha
**Note: I wont be using this as a weapon, obviously. I imagine it could be used as one to hurt someone. As, what kind of cop is going to belive "This guy shot flames from his hand and burned me." I'm planning on making this for fun. Something to do. Yes, I'll finish this. As I'm almost done my DS Grip. Just have to find my bondo and paint it. My mom hid my stuff. D: **
So... Yea!

I saw only you had replied and I thought "Awesome, Bic has replied, he seems to know about everything. I look forward to his deep insight". Not those exact words, but pretty darn close. Then I see that you have indeed given the best advice possible.bicostp wrote:Good way to light yourself on fire.

Well when you strap flamethrowers to your arms with no protection, what do you expect will happen? Besides, I generally don't take videos that are watermarked to websites like "stupidvideos.com" very seriously.
Be really careful if you do this. I strongly recommend you don't, especially since the video barely describes the things, and there is no build log in sight. (Google only brought up a bunch of other viral video sites.)

Not only that, but then he goes and uses them in a garage.bicostp wrote:Well when you strap flamethrowers to your arms with no protection, what do you expect will happen?
HDC, if I were you, I'd get some fire repellent clothing to wear while using it. At the very least some foil covered gloves.
To answer your question on aerosols, it should stay a gas, or at least turn back into one when it is sprayed into the air. The fuel injection systems in cars have the fuel as a liquid all the way from the tank to the injectors. It is then forced through the injectors and atomizes. So you could use a liquid fuel (gasoline, lighter fluid) as long as you have it pressurized and spray it through a nozzle.
Re: Pyro Gloves! (Item: Weapon/Effect Producing)
Ok, I'm only posting this because I'm a nice guy.
Or a jerk that wants you to blow yourself up...
(jk)
This is what you want to watch.
Now, if that's the same video you already linked to, then I'm sorry. (This one has no water mark, so I'm guessing it's not the same.)
Now, before you try this; if you do happen to blow yourself up, please don't blame me. I did nothing!

Why is it that every time I post in a thread, it dies?

Re: Pyro Gloves! (Item: Weapon/Effect Producing)
Thank you so much for the video. I'll contact this guy and see if he could point me in a good direction to start, or something.
EDIT: I see someone already made a cloned version of it, but its much more simpler, this is it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8oMZNqPoPI" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
In the clone video, the guys system just sprays gas/aerosole and he lights it with a seperate lighter in his other hand. I think this would be a much easier/safer solution for me to do, as I would not have to risk modifying a lighter and/or it all off one hand. (Running it all off one hand, could explode on me and cause a lot of injury.) Yet, it also seems easier, as I would not need to extend the lighter nozzle.
Another guy made a clone of it, and did the same thing. (Using an external lighter to light it.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tcxo4o5wN6E" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Also, from watching the original creators first version of the system, he says that he has a butane canister and runs the gas through a small tube that exits right beside the flame. Which means, I CAN make butane/fuel/eather run through a tube/line. Heck, his tube is actually pretty long too and it still makes a huge flame. (Original System here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Da8h6K7p31c" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; )

I never said butane would not work through a tube, I only said aerosol hairspray and the like would not.

Re: Pyro Gloves! (Item: Weapon/Effect Producing)
Ooh. Sorry
Yea, I think I'm going to use an external lighter. (Just use a zippo to light it all).
Mostly because:
Its safer.
Butttt. This way, its sorta like what the guy from Xmen movie does.

That guy's an experienced pyrotechnics engineer or something. He looks young but in one of his videos about a year back he explained how many years of experience he had and that he knew what he was doing. You can tell he does if you just listen to him.
Valve is the best company.
