Since when does the iPhone have a hard drive?

I thought it was flash, after all, no use in a 32 GB hard drive when you can have flash instead, right?

I don't know, maybe it is flash, try googling that.

It's flash, and you can't add an extra memory card... Picture says it all.

It's flash memory soldered to the motherboard.

You can solder an additional or a bigger flash chip onto the board if you can find one that's compatible. (I've seen it done on iPod Nano 2Gs.)

OH I forgot about this post... I just figured it was a harddrive, though I dont think I'll actually use the full 8GB, if I do I can always just use my classic for music.

yeah, but the 3G doesnt. and thats what that is. and it still doesnt have any of the other stuff. its so dumb. it can record, video (cycorder), it can do mms (i dont remember what its called), it can do video calls (someone could code something. its got 3G and video out), and it could have changeable memory cards, but it doesnt. i dont understand how the iphone, the great and mighty iphone, can be lacking such obvious features. :wtf: :wtf:

If you could, prying it open is a pain considering the way they construct it. I've seen dozens of vids on youtube of people breaking components in an ipod just doing so.

Otherwise, if you can I would ensure to flash over everything onto the new one before you re-solder a new one. Not a 100% sure but if it is like the ipods themselves, it contains bits and pieces of the firmware.
