Well first off you'll need a wetsuit. From that picture it looks like you might need a baggy one.
That's the easy part. Next comes the helmet thingy. Your best bet would be to make a mold and then use resin to basically make a shell. These forums will give you some more info on that. That site is geared more towards Mjolnir Armor (Read: Master chief) but the same basic concept would apply to your project as well.
You could also use cardboard for it, but I think it would be harder to get it rounded and if it rained, you'b be screwed.
For the mood lights I'd obviously use LEDs, and a switch. No big deal there. And it looks like you could easily fit an ipod/MP3 player and a small speaker system in the helmet thingy. I have one of [url=http://www.ihomeaudio.com/iHM10]these/url], and they sound pretty good, but 25$ might be a little steep for just on project.

Why is it that every time I post in a thread, it dies?

woot! thanks! resin looks like the way to go. the mold will be hard, but whatever. and i have speakers, the issue is getting good, low bass.

Re: Big Daddy Suit (halloween)
football shoulder pads and other sports equipment might not be a bad starting place, the other style of big daddy would probably be easier to build tho
it really depends on how accurate you want to be and how much you want to spend. fiberglass or molded plastic would be the highest quality and most expensive route, cardboard and paper mache (sp?) would be the cheaper not as good route

Yeah triton, that's a good point. But I think the legs on that one would make the whole process harder

Haha, touche
But I think for halloween, I'll go with some simpler. Like Dr. Horrible

Dammit Sam! You took my idea! I wanted to go as a big daddy for last years halloween (my birthday by the way! Get me something!) but due to lack of funds I gave up so I'm going to try again. I'll be making the Rosie instead of the Bouncer though.

My friends and I already have this planned! We've got Dr. Horrible, Penny, the Hammer, Moist, Thomas Jefferson costumes planned and part way complete.ZN13 wrote:That is pretty creepy!Triton wrote:one of my friends wants to make a plague doctor costume, that stuff is creepy! I was talking more about this:
@Triton: I hate plague doctors. I saw an exhibit at the Boston Science Museum back in 7th grade, and they had an automated one that talked and told stories about the plague. There was a dark section in the wall in the Black Plague exhibit, then the whole display it was in would light up, with screams and him laughing hysterically. The thing was 6 and a half feet tall, with a long coat, and the bird mask. They also had a real mask that survived in another display. Creepiest crap ever.
