Which is the better version of Sonic 3D Blast?

Post by Spyder12587 » Mon Jul 27, 2009 12:43 pm

Is the Sega Saturn version better or the Sega Genesis one? I love the old school Sonic games but since it was made for both systems, I was unsure of which one was the superior version. Anyone have personal experience with both/either?

Discuss!

What makes them terrible? Is either version in any way better than the other?

Both versions hold up quite well.

Saturn has better special stages

Both are pretty much the same irritably bad game.

Neither. They both suck.

Sonic Xtreme, however, looks amazing. Too bad they never released it. :c

That doesn't actually look that great.

Pretty sure a tech demo leaked onto the internet at one point, I remember playing it.

Sonic Xtreme looked alright. I just figure that on the globe shaped levels (if they were all like that) it'd be frustrating because you'd run off a lot.

its a fisheye lens. theyre actually "straight". the fisheye makes it so you can see around corners and predict oncoming obstacles without losing your flow. ,it was a VERY well thought out game and a beautiful engine. the original programmer is actually working on releasing a version of it for PC platform.

Ok, that makes sense, but I still think you'd end up running off ledges, especially when you're running towards the camera.

... and THAT is how you do Sonic in 3D!

Reminds me a bit of Super Mario Galaxy, only it'd run on lesser hardware.

Edit: 900 posts

Funny! The X-treme game creator, Chris Senn has a site dedicated to his cancelled master piece. If I recall correctly, he put everything related to the game on the site including scripts. Theres a forum too... Apparently, the fans convinced him to "remake" the game and he was looking for coders to help him out.
