Recomendation on a PC gaming mic?

Post by DJ711 » Thu May 21, 2009 6:23 pm

I want to get a decent gaming mic because I'm gonna start getting into PC gaming. I want a decent one and my budget is under 50. Can you guys give me a good recomendation?
I haven't been here in awhile, and looking back it's one of the worst ideas I ever had. I'm back and I'll be here for awhile, I was quite active 1 year ago and I hope to become that again.

To start, get a headset. It's a much better experience.

I personally have had my eyes on these for some time.

They have better microphone quality, and inline controls. The 3H's dont have inline controls which makes things a lot harder if you want to turn up/down the volume or sensitivity in game. IMO they look cooler too.

Any ol's microphone will work because the game's going to compress it down a lot anyway. Most of the "ur mic sux" crap you get online is due to setting the record level too high, or trying to eat the mic and talk at the same time.

Get a decent-sounding headset; don't worry about the mic unless you also want to do professional recording with it.

Get a headset with an inline volume control.

Also, I'm getting TF2 tomorrow. Does everyone use mics or is there some kind of text communication system I can use?

Yep, there is a text chat. Press the button and it brings up a text window.

Defaults-

Y: Chat to everyone on the server
U: Chat to only your team (RED, BLU, or Spectator)

But a mic is a lot faster. Trust me.

Good idea getting it now; it's only $10 this weekend because the Sniper vs Spy Update came out.

Thanks, I'm gonna go test it out right now (the game). That's the beauty of the free weekend I can figure out if it works on my computer (I'm a little over minimum settings for publisher). Plus with the leftover money from the debit card I can buy LoZ OoT and Majora's Mask.

How about spending a little more money and getting one of these?

Nice! Yeah, I'll probably buy those if anything. I just might have to wait 2 months.
