Annoying processes that run on your PC

What processes run on your PC and annoy you often on how much dam CPU they take up? For me, the iTunesHelper and Ipod service sometimes take up a lot for no reason at all. And as of right now, updater.exe is running, and downloading, and is hogging all mah cpus.

just checked my system monitor to see what's taking up my CPU, and the only thing using the CPU was the system monitor itself. I feel like I'm in pretty good shape.

Is it a legitimate updater or a not-so-cleverly-disguised malware updater?

avgrsx.exe is a pain in the butt. It takes 50 MB of RAM and clashes with the Source engine for some reason. So, every time I go to play HL2 or TF2 I go into task manager and kill it a few dozen times until it finally goes away.

There is a process (or more) running in my PC and it constantly uses the HDD. I can't find it!

I hear that. I currently have 6.

Avast is pretty system intensive. Currently it's using about 100,000-120,000K of RAM.

Another thing that bugs me is the Lenovo power manager utility. 20,000K. Doesn't do a damn thing. It's not the battery gauge, it's some separate thing I never see or use.
Hey, sup?

It could be the search indexer running, or a background defrag. (I think XP and Vista run a defragmenter in the background when the drive starts getting heavily fragmented.)
